share. learn. thrive!

I wanted to share a book I was reading.

Hi there me Pam again.  I was reading this non-vegan book.  I know what all your Vegans are saying and yes I am trully a Vegan.  Too bad though there is only 2 Vegan restaurants that I have found in my hometown Calgary.  I was thinking the other day that we as Canadians' (Calgaryians).  Should have more Vegan restaurant choices here.  Some of the restaurants do say Vegan friendly but, they really not.  Anyway I went way off topic here.  But back to the book, even though it is a non-vegan book.  It does have some interesting facts about fast food restaurants.  The book is called The Dark Side Of The American Meal by Eric Schlosser.  And the inside and out of what is really inside the frech fries in the packages in the store we are buying it has an extract of beef tallow in them.  I didn't know that I make my own fries anyways.  And that why Fast Food retailiers are targetting teenagers to work the Fast Food Joints. I think us as Vegan shouldn't go to any Fast Food Chains.  I make my own food anyways.  But some of the secrets are all in the book.  I can't put them all down on this blog because it is a long lists.  But it is interesting to read.  At first I was going to return it back to the library but, when I read further in the book I realized that us as a Vegan group can make a difference even though it's not much of a difference but, the little differences we make the more frud there is and the more there is the less people won't buy the products.  French Fries in McDonalds has beef tallow in them.  And I am a east indian.  But before I became a Vegan I ate the fries thinking there is no meat oil or cooking there fries in vegetable oil yes they do but, the fries are coated in beef fat.  That is just gross.  I want to make a change and I did and I want all my Vegan people to make a change too.  And there is alot of hidden ingredients in the book that contains meat extract and I didn't even know, knowing that I am a Vegan.  Please full free to eat it but, don't turn into a non-vegan.  And it also says why meat is bad and wrong for us.  So when you go to a grocery market.  Stay away from McCains fries they have beef tallow coated on the fries.  Thanks for reading Pam.

You are welcome.  I am glad you are a vegan bc that book I have read is very disguesting and I used to work in a meat packing plant.  It's amazing for much people want to hide the facts about meat.  I know me too I can't find anything out here either.  They should have more vegan restaurants out here like in LA.  Which I am going to go bc of the vegan food.  Omg you should see what they have out there it's sweet.  My friend in LA. lol all we do is talk about how good the vegan food is good in LA.  And it's all vegan.  Thanks for emailing me Pam.

Thanks Pam for sharing that! I have just start reading other books on food so i will definately add that to my list.  I live in Cold Lake and there is no support for us vegans here.  We dont really eat out cuz of that factor and i truly cant justify 12.00 for a salad from BP's that is still bad for you.  i honestly once in a blue moon had a small fries at macdonalds thinking i was safe ( yes i knew they they were bad for me hence...treat) but i had no idea about the beef fat and fries. they are definately off my treat list... so thank you for opening up.

Oh I see! I believe what you are saying because I am very sensitive to what I eat and whenever i ate fries from McD's I felt in my body that I was putting in something that I didn't want to put in. They did not FEEL the same as homemade fries. Thank you for speaking your truth Pam! Keep them coming! :-) Let those who doubt doubt, it is their own downfall for being too rigid in their thinking. We are in the year 2012 now and we have the ability to learn from others across the globe without moving an inch from our homes. Community forms like these are best used to connect honestly, not to put people down. That was sooo 1990s internet. This is the new internet! <3

It's about the fries.  Some people don't believe me what I wrote about the food people eat.  I am just glad you have read my comment and believe me that's all.
